How do you operate the linear amplifier you001ave built?
If you001ave assembled your Heathkit SB 220 according to the instructions that came along with the parts, your new linear amplifier should be completely operational. This amplifier was engineered to be used with an exciter that delivers 100 watts of Radio Frequency out (RF) output. If you couple the amplifier with an exciter that delivers less than 100 watts, the amplifier001as own output will be decreased, and if the exciter you use delivers more than 100 watts, you risk blowing out the amplifier.Turn the exciter on before you turn the amplifier on but reduce the exciter output to zero by turning the appropriate controls. After you have switched on your new amplifier, place the exciter in Tune Mode; the amplifier001as meter at this point should read 0.12 amperes. Slowly adjust the amplifier001as Tune and Load controls until the amplifier001as meter reads 0.35 amperes.
